SAR Coherence in Detecting Fluvial Sediment Transport Events in Arid Environments

چکیده
Coherence change detection (CCD) is a remote sensing technique used to map phenomena that, under certain conditions, can be directly related changes in Interferometric SAR (InSAR) coherence. Mapping the areas affected by sediment transport events arid environments one of most common applications CCD. However, reliability these maps remains an unsolved issue. This paper focuses on verifying that InSAR coherence indeed able detect all fluvial have actually mobilised sediments building classification model and validating its results. The proposed methodology tested three study Salar de Atacama, Chile, using years Sentinel data plus fourth year for validation, meteorological records rainfall, relative humidity air snow cover. results prove remotely flash floods environments, it might greater ability than perpendicular baseline does relevant effect needs considered. All findings will increase based In addition, method allow focusing mapping tasks only dates and, once calibrated, enable automatised new events.

Estimating fluvial sediment transport: The rating parameters
Correlations between suspended sediment load rating parameters, river basin morphology, and climate provide information about the physical controls on the sediment load in rivers and are used to create predictive equations for the sediment rating parameters. Long-term time-averaged values of discharge, suspended load, flow duration, flow peakedness, and temporally averaged values of precipitati...
متن کاملSediment Transport in Unsteady Flow Conditions
Sediment transport under unsteady flow condition is studied experimentally. In the first step, sediment transport under different steady flow conditions was measured and an empirical equation was derived for its calculation. In the next step, two continuous and three stepwise hydrographs were generated in the flume, and their sediment transport rate was measured. The continuous hydrographs were...
متن کاملTransport of Gravel and Sediment Mixtures 3.1 Fluvial Phenomena Associated with Sediment Mixtures
When ASCE Manual No. 54, “Sedimentation Engineering,” was first published in 1975, the subject of the transport and sorting of heterogeneous sediments with wide grain size distributions was still in its infancy. This was particularly true in the case of bedload transport. The method of Einstein (1950) was one of the few available at the time capable of computing the entire grain size distributi...
متن کاملGrain size distribution effects on phosphate sorption by fluvial sediment: implications for modelling sediment- phosphate transport
A sensitivity analysis was performed on a sediment-phosphate transport model by determining the phosphate sorption characteristics of separated size fractions and prepared size distributions of fine-grained ( < 64 jum) river sediment typically transported in two southern Ontario streams. The Langmuir equation was used to quantify phosphate release from the sediment. Results of the study indicat...
متن کاملFluvial suspended sediment transport and mechanical erosion in the Maghreb ( North Africa ) *
Probst & Amiotte Suchet (1992) are to be complimented on their valuable contribution to the investigation of erosion in the Maghreb (North Africa). As noted by the authors, the study of erosion at the global scale has neglected the Maghreb region and their recent paper draws attention to the intensity of sediment loss in this area. Their statistical analysis of a large body of suspended sedimen...
